Barcelona Lower Old Town
Barcelona Lower Old Town tour starts at the historic Placa del Rei a 14th centuary medieval square. Wilfred then takes you down the side of the Cathedral and outside the old city to see the remaining Roman Walls. From here you head into The Born, home to the Picasso Museum and the fabulous Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar. Crossing back over Via Laietana the next stop is the home of the legendary ‘Black Virgin‘ in the church of Sants Just i Pastor.
Heading towards Las Ramblas, Wilfred’s next stop is in the famous Placa Reial, with its Gaudi designed lamp posts. From here you reach another Gaudi gem, Palau Guell. Turning towards the sea, Wilfred takes you past the Royal Shipyards before reaching one of the iconic sights of Barcelona, the Columbus Monument.
The final section takes you up Las Ramblas past the twice destroyed Liceu Opera House and into the labyrinth of the Jewish Quarter, including the Ancient Synagogue. You finish in the main square Placa Jaume.
